Setting up self-watering – Step by step
Self-watering pots are ideal for plants that like consistently moist substrate
1. Threading the Wick
Thread the wick through the inner pot:
- Cotton wick → through the central, large hole
- Premium wick → through the side holes
👉 The wick ensures that water is drawn upwards later.
2. Insert plant
Pot your plant with the desired substrate.
💡 Recommendation:
- Small plants → Stratum only
- Larger plants → mineral substrate
👉 Based on experience, also works with:
Soil, moss, perlite, etc.
3. Rinse substrate
Briefly rinse the substrate after potting.
👉 This prevents deposits (fine dust / "sludge") in the system.
4. Filling the reservoir
Fill the water directly into the reservoir.
👉 Do not pour from above - the system handles the supply.
5. Done
Your plant now waters itself automatically.
👉 Simply refill the reservoir when it's empty and let it grow without worry.
